Joining applications

The polymer composites industry requires lightweight, strong, cost-effective materials for diverse component and structure applications.  The reason we are developing end of arm tooling for welding thermoplastics is to react to the evolving market demands. Our customers are actively engaged in R&D efforts to integrate thermoplastic composites into aerospace structure, skin, and frame components.  We are seeing additional opportunities in automotive, industrial and consumer segment applications.

Our cutting-edge technology is installed in top-tier aerospace and is being evaluated for use in U.S. Air Force, and NASA programs.

  • Ultrasonic systems built on IP developed in-house that contradicts industry standard practices

  • Game changing breakthroughs that enable CUW without energy directors or film inserts

  • Tools in the toolbox when energy directors or film layers are not feasibile

Agile’s ambient processing methodology consumes less energy, labor, tooling, and equipment in comparison to alternatives. This combination of factors helps support global sustainability objectives and high-rate manufacturing of lightweight, strong TP-based structures.  Agile’s CUW technology has transformative potential for defense and commercial aerospace and broad applicabilty to industrial and consumer component manufacturing.  We enable precise, through thickness heating events to occur in specfiic locations based on an understanding of the materials and joining requirements.  This can vary from light compaction that enables a tack in place outcome through a fully completed welding event.
